Why invest in Las Vegas?

Certainly there are many reasons one would invest in Las Vegas. The most obvious and most prominent one is the illusion that Las Vegas is built on money. Many hear of the billions of dollars that casinos may or may not earn and Las Vegas seems like the ideal investment city that actually prints money. But, while there are valid opportunities in Vegas, most do not mean opening your own casino.

So what type of investments exist and why bother with Las Vegas? Las Vegas was built as a tourist town. It has reinvented itself over the years and will continue to adapt with the times. Unlike other tourist attractions that die when the fad is over or when people are no longer willing to spend their hard earned cash, Vegas continues to mesmerize and capture us with its spell. It is this enduring, chameleon-like quality that makes it a perfect investment venue.

Further, there are many players in the Las Vegas landscape who have a vested interest in keeping Las Vegas alive. This leads to more investment because it shows that local governments, existing businesses, and individuals are willing to promote the cause and keep Vegas in the forefront. They seem to do a better job of coordinating a cohesive effort. Other tourist towns such as Niagara Falls have not been able to forward their agendas in a successful light. Partly because so few care about the industry and this works against them.

Vegas, on the other hand, not only has the local government singing its praises but the state of Nevada is doing what it can to entice investment. By offering serious tax programs such as the Sales & Use Tax Abatement Program, Sales & Use Tax Deferral Program, Personal Property Tax Abatement, Modified Business Tax Abatement, and Job Training & Recruitment Services to corporations and qualifying businesses, Las Vegas is able to attract investment.

In addition to the fact that both city and state governments are trying to appeal to businesses, other communities are just as eager to seek investment to keep Las Vegas alive. Communities like Henderson for example, boast how close they are to Vegas and how beautiful it is to see the view of The Strip. Everyone is involved in the promotion of Las Vegas which in turn makes this a solid reason to invest.

Moving along, unlike other tourist attractions, people move to Nevada due to Las Vegas and its surrounding areas. It has been said that once people experience Vegas, they do not want to leave so they move to the Las Vegas Metropolitan area. The powers-that-be not only promote Las Vegas as a place to have fun and play but also a nice place to live, with affordable living, affordable homeowners insurance and loads of jobs!

Lastly, the large number of celebrities such as Céline Dion, Bette Midler, and Donny and Marie Osmond, ensures the viability of Las Vegas which ultimately makes it a good place in which to invest.
